Lakeside Boys Baseball
Lakeside Junior Varsity Baseball had two spectacular come- from-behind wins at home Saturday against Freeman. In game one Lakeside was trailing 13-2 into the fourth inning. Freeman's pitching couldn't finish what they had worked so hard for in the beginning of the game. Everyone contributed in the late innings and everyone on the roster got at least one base hit. Among the highlights were: outfielder Jake Judd hit an inside the park home run down the right field line with two men on. Also contributing was (insert name) who had to reach way outside to reach a suicide squeeze bunt and keep a rally alive. Matt Doyle contributed with an unassisted double play by the third baseman who rescued his pitcher with a great defensive play.
In game two Lakeside again found themselves in need of a comeback in the sixth inning. Lakeside had the lead but relinquished it in the middle of the game and Matt Doyle was but in for relief when the spark the first game ignited. Pitched outstanding relief to give their teammates a chance to mirror the first game comeback that they all wanted. This momentum carried into game two with hits by: Luke Holbert, Matt Doyle, Ian Forsyth, Bryan Jennings, Kelvin Siemens Brandon Zidack made numerous putouts from shortstop. Thanks to all the great hitting and pitching of Lakeside and their never-ending fight for the win, the Lakeside Eagles were able to beat the Freeman Scotties 14-13 when in the bottom of the seventh inning Evan Windham hit a blooper into right to score Luke Holbert from Third.
