Lake Spokane Chamber of Commerce

October 26, 2011

The Lake Spokane Chamber of Commerce met on the Sep. 22, 2011 @ 7:00 PM. It was a successful trial to accommodate those businesses that couldn't be represented at the noontime meetings that we have been usually having.

The main focus of both the Board and the General Meetings was to continue building the different committees/groups associated with the chamber and to come up with ways/ideas for better support of the local businesses. Some items already in the works are: Chamber member stickers for businesses, an additional listing in the annual business directory on the Chamber of Commerce page (approximately 8,000 copies have gone out), listings and links on our website and business information/flyers in the Welcome packets that are distributed at the schools and events (80+ packets were passed out at registration this year). Ideas to be implemented are: a business spotlight on the website visible when you first open the site, networking with Loon Lake, Springdale and Deer Park chambers to spread the word on our local businesses and events, and early membership drive discounts (TBA).

Our guest speaker was Aaron Hutchinson from Durham School Services. They have taken over the school bus routes in the Nine Mile area including Lake Spokane. Their future community projects include providing buses at Lakeside High School Homecoming, Adopt an Elementary School where they fill a bus with school supplies and food for those who are in need of such, and being reading partners at the schools. At this time they have 20 buses with 13 being used for school bus routes. They will use some of the others for charters. Call 467-2944 for more information.

Next meeting will be at noontime on Oct 27, 2011 at the Pizza Factory. The next evening meeting will be on November 17, 2011 @ 7:00 PM at the Pizza Factory. All are welcome.
