SCCAT/COP Shop/RESOURCE CENTER

December 14, 2011

Undersheriff Webb and her assistant will be at Lakeside C.O.P. Shop TODAY, December 14th. from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. to issue concealed weapons permits.

TOY DRIVE

The generosity of our community members is overwhelming. The toys you have donated will fill the toy requests. Some residents have picked up toy applications so they can buy for the individual child. Businesses that have collected donated toys are:

Suncrest Auto Parts

Suncrest Supermarket

Pizza Factory

Phase I Fitness Center

Edward Jones

Community Health Center

Outpost/C.O.P. Shop

LHS FCCLA

Spokane Soda Works

Lakeside High School FCCLA does a great job buying toys to fill an applicant's request.

Those volunteers who help fill the bags with toys have way too much fun.

Toy orders can be picked up at the clothing bank located at the Lake Spokane Community Church on December 17th during the Food Bank.

S.C.C.A.T. volunteers met at the Safari Room for our Christmas luncheon. Stevens County Undersheriff and her aide joined us which was a special treat for all of us. Before lunch, the Undersheriff and her aide spoke to us about the recent failure of the 3/10 of a penny sales Tax proposition.

The county is responsible for providing law enforcement to approximately 33,848 citizens who reside outside cities. The sales Tax would have increased from 7.6% to 7.9%. For those who shop in Spokane, you pay 8.7%. The increase was needed to fund the criminal justice needs. The news was bad - a sad day for our county.

After lunch, we walked across the street to the Davenport Hotel to ooh and aah at the Christmas tree display.

Volunteers are always needed for the C.O.P. Shop and N.O.P. programs. If you are interested in volunteering for just a few hours a month, pick up an application and join us.
