SCCAT/COP Shop/RESOURCE CENTER
How would you like to volunteer a few hours of your time each month? S.C.C.A.T. always needs volunteers for the C.O.P. Shop, N.O.P. program and S.A.P. program.
If you choose to volunteer for the C.O.P. Shop after a background check and training, some of your duties include:
Answer the phone, assist with Incident Reports, (and we insist that all information remain confidential) give information about many subjects and resources that are available to the public, and help with the Toy Drive or set up an information booth at Neighbor Days. There are many days that you do nothing, but you are available if someone needs help.
The N.O.P. (Neighborhood Observation Patrol) volunteers, after completing training, help to keep traffic moving at Lake Spokane Elementary School on the first day of school, drive the former Sheriff's car in this area to report unusual happenings to Dispatch (they become the eyes and ears for the Sheriff's department) and make area checks on homes when owners leave for vacation. This allows a deputy to pursue other things.
We have passed out flyers informing the public about a sex offender in a neighborhood, passed out flyers about a rash of thefts in another neighborhood and passed out information to residents about the killer dogs.
Volunteers are here to assist the Sheriff's Department and our neighbors.
Those who volunteer for the S.A.P. (School Assistance Program) love to be at Lakeside High School for football, Volleyball and Basketball games. All volunteers wear a red jacket and a name tag so that they are readily identified.
Once a month we meet at Lakeside High School library on the first Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Join us if you are interested in the organization!
We also have our luncheon once a month just for fun!
ALL OF US WHO VOLUNTEER FOR S.C.C.A.T. WANT TO WISH ALL OF YOU A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS.
