Spring Has Sprung?
Hasta la vista winter! Ola Spring! Don’t you wish it was just that easy? Though Tuesday the 20th of March is the day “Spring Begins,” winter is still in the forecast. If you have lived in the area for a couple of seasons, then you know that snow is still a threat, at least until Mother’s Day. For gardeners anticipating planting next year’s flowers and vegetables, the wait can be unbearable. The recent warm sunny days only are a tease of the growing season yet to come.
I have been taking advantage of the mild weather by raking and preparing this year’s gardens. To satisfy my desire to get some form of gardening done, I planted the tulips I had missed planting last fall. Though they will probably not bloom this year, at least they are in the ground and I got something done. Getting this year’s vegetable starts ready is another way to satisfy the gardening urge. According to the time specified on most seed packages, now is a good time to get your tomatoes and peppers started.
In a couple of weeks we are going to publish our annual Home and Garden issue. If you have a business that you would like to advertise in this anticipated yearly issue, please give us a call.
