The Northwest Renaissance Festival is getting ready for another great season. Auditioning has started. There will be 10 weeks of training on Saturday afternoons. POC (Point of Contact): Tienne Rogers at 509-276-7728.

For those of you who don’t know, the Parks and Recreation’s levy failed. A new group, Friends of the Park, is organizing under Tienne Rogers. A goal of theirs is to get 2,000 community members to contribute $10 apiece. This would give them enough money to start the infrastructure (road, water, etc) of the park. It would also show our community’s willingness to support a local park. This park is going to be for everyone’s use. Please make donations by getting in touch with either Rocky Fortner at 509-465-4504 or Tienne Rogers.

The 4th of July Celebration planning is off and running. Phil Putman has vendor applications for the celebration. They will be available at the Outpost and Chamber offices. He’d like to encourage “cottage industries” to participate and show their crafts/businesses. POC: Phil Putman 509-276-6349.

Rocky Fortner is organizing a motorcycle show and fun ride to start from the Pizza Factory. There will be a $15 a rider or $25 a couple fee (this includes the ride pin entry fee). Ride pins can be also bought separately. The Pizza Factory is offering to be the beer/food vendor for this. The Pizza Factory is also paying for flyers which are being distributed to motorcycle clubs and dealers.

Phil Putman is organizing Lawnmower Races. These are not your everyday mowers. They are a show in themselves. The date is June 9th from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (est). There will be a minimal general public fee. Money raised here will go towards the 4th of July Celebration. Sure to be some excitement. The track is laid out behind the Tum Tum fire station (our thanks to them for their support). Phil Putman is still looking for help with lighting, bleachers, crowd control. POC: Phil Putman.
