April 29th Fun Run/Walk Event Will Raise Money For Mission Trips
It won’t be long before the rainy spring weather turns to a dry summer heat wave! This summer break many of the youth in the Suncrest community will be spending a week or two of their vacation serving in other countries on a mission trip. A new non-profit organization was formed at the beginning of this year called the Suncrest Senders. Senders wants to provide and prepare the youth in the Nine Mile Community opportunities to experience missions: locally, nationally and globally.
A large portion of the group’s purpose is to raise funds to support the individuals seeking to participate in missions. This summer, Senders is sending a group of nine youth and three adult leaders from the Nine Mile Community to Seoul, South Korea. They are teaming up with Youth Missions International (YMI) for this inaugural endeavor. While in Seoul, the team will be teaching English in Awana camps! This is the first time YMI has worked with a non-denominational group that is represented by multiple churches; Senders is truly a unique opportunity.
Suncrest Family Worship Center will also be sending out a group of over 30 people, mostly youths, to go to Mexico this summer for a mission trip.
In an effort to raise financial support for both mission trips, Senders is putting on a Fun Run/Walk the weekend before Bloomsday. There will be two courses to accommodate a variety of runners and walkers. Whether you are a Bloomy in training, seeking a healthy family event, or just want to get out and support a good cause, the Senders Fun Run/Walk Event is for you! There will be a 2.2 mile course and a 4.2 mile course, which will both start and finish at the Lake Spokane Elementary School (LSE).
The event will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 29th, 2012. Parking will be available at LSE and across the street at Suncrest Family Worship Center. You can pick up a registration form at various local businesses and churches in Nine Mile Falls. The cost is $15 per person and includes a t-shirt if you register beforehand.
