Campaigning

The community members of the Deer Park and Riverside school districts have voted on important financial issues related to the education of their children. After a laborious campaign this last February, both failed at the ballot. Not in a position to give up, both of the districts decided to make some adjustments and attempt it again. Deer Park’s levy has passed, while the Riverside levy is tied up and will not be certified until after this has gone to print. Hats off to the community volunteers for both of these campaigns. Levies are hard to pass when the economy is good and become nearly impossible to pass in an economic climate like our current one.

Between now and November, everyone is going to be inundated with all kinds of political campaigns. It is important to sift through the muck and mud to see the candidates and issues clearly for what they are. That is where the Outpost fits into all of this. We are dedicated to bring you as much information as possible about the local issues and local candidates. Our primary focus will be on Stevens County, since that is where the bulk of our readers live, though we are not opposed to covering Spokane County issues and candidates. Please share your opinions by sending us a letter to the editor. If you know of something that needs to be covered, whether it is a political issue or not, please give us a call or send us an e-mail. You can reach us by phone at (509) 467-3826 or by e-mail: editor@lakespokanemedia.com. Thank you for your continued support.
