Republican Running For District 1 Vacant Seat
Tom W. Hale, a 30-year resident of Steven’s County, has announced his candidacy for the Stevens County Commissioner seat being vacated by Commissioner Larry Guenther.
“I have the experience and education to make informed decisions that will increase the return on what we receive for the taxes we pay,” Hale said in his campaign announcement. “I am committed to providing a voice for Southern Stevens County residents and will work with the other commissioners to meet the needs of all Steven County residents,” he added.
Hale was raised in a small local farming community and is a graduate of Spokane Community College, Eastern Washington University, and Washington State University. He worked in Spokane for Dorian Studio prior to becoming a Technology Educator for Spokane School District 81. During his tenure there, he taught students skills applicable for current jobs in Eastern Washington. He was Department Head of Applied Technology the last eight years of his 27 year educator career.
Hale was an active fire district volunteer for over 20 years. He was a member of Steven’s County Fire District # 1 for almost two decades, during which time he served as Fire Commissioner for nine years. As a Fire Commissioner, he was involved in setting goals, budgeting to buy real estate, and overseeing the construction of three new fire stations within existing budget funding.
Hale has been married to his wife Hope for 41 years. They have two adult sons who both work in engineering. Hale and his wife are farm and landowners in two counties.
“I have the education and experience to solve problems, listen, communicate and negotiate on behalf of the residents of Stevens County. I will work as a team member to strengthen Stevens County,” Hale concluded.
