Fire District’s Beloved Wooden Bear Passes On
Donations Needed For Replacement
Stevens County Fire District 1 is sad to announce the passing of its iconic bear that has stood watch over the District Office in Clayton for the past 15 years. The 6 foot carved wooden bear, that was donated many years ago, adorned the front lawn of the District Office and succumbed late Wednesday afternoon to Washington winters and the attacks of woodpeckers and insects.
It is the hope of the Fire District that it can be replaced this year, and members of the District are exploring options to replace the bear. Donations are being accepted. For more information call 509-262-9660.
