Back To School Already

It is hard to believe that summer is beginning to wind down and it is time to think about getting the kids ready for school. For families with limited finances this time of year can be stressful. The expectations of entering the new year with a new wardrobe and the latest backpack filled with name brand school supplies is not only hard on the students, but puts considerable pressure on the parents as well. To help alleviate some of the back to school pressure, Lake Spokane Community Church is hosting a Neighborhood Back 2 School Bash. This event will be held at the same time as the Food Pantry distribution at the Tum Tum Community Center and Clothing closet at the Lake Spokane Community Church. The Back 2 School Bash will be held at the Lake Spokane Community Church activity field. The event will have free games, activities, drinks and hotdogs. School supplies and haircuts will also be available. The event will be held on August 11, from 9:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. 6418 Hwy 291, Nine Mile Falls, WA

Donated school supplies are needed for distribution at the aforementioned event. There is a collection box at the Outpost newspaper office, 5919 Hwy 291. School supllies may also be donated at the SCCAT booth during this Saturday’s, Neighbor Day, hosted by and held at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 5920 HWY 291. This event will include games, information booths and live entertainment. Hope to see you there!

School may start sooner than you think. Both Deer Park and Mary Walker (Springdale) school districts start back on August 29th, while the schools in the Nine Mile District start back on September 5th.
