Our Local Roving Traffic Reporter has another update on the traffic counts on Highway 291.
For the years of
Before Indian Trail 28,000 28,000
After Indian Trail 15,000 14,000
Before Seven Mile Road
After Seven Mile Road
Before Rutter Parkway
Before Charles Road 9,700
Entering Stevens County
After Swenson Road
Before Suncrest Drive 6,800
After Wylie Drive 4,300 4,200
Thousands of drivers use Hwy. 291 daily and most of them are safe drivers.
Driving along Hwy. 291 is scenic and sometimes our attention wanders. A driver must remember to stay a safe distance from the vehicle in front of him. Tailgaters are really annoying and if the car in front of them stops suddenly --------POW!!!!! Some drivers continue to use their cell phone while driving and multi-tasking while driving is not a good idea.
The reason for speed limits, yellow lines painted down the center of roads and information signs is to educate the driver and help them to drive safely.
